SARS-CoV-2 (新型コロナウイルスのウイルス名）と近いコロナウイルスがタイの南部に住むコウモリから発見されました。SARS-CoV-2とRacCS203（今回発見されたウイルス）のゲノムの類似性を確認したところ、91%一致したそうです。この前にも日本に生息しているコウモリなどからもSARS-CoV-2と類似しているコロナウイルスを保持していることが発見されており、今回の発見ではSARS-CoV-2の起源を特定することはできませんが、SARS-CoV-2に近縁なウイルスが検出された地域が約4800kmの地域に拡大しました。
Virus closely related to SARS-CoV-2 (a name of the virus of COVID-19) was detected from the bats living in Thailand. When the SARS-CoV-2 and RacCS203 (a virus this research group found) was genetically compared, there was 91% match. Before this study, there are viruses similar to SARS-CoV-2 found in bats living in Japan, and although this research did not find a place of origin for SARS-CoV-2, it did expanded the area that virus closely related to SARS-CoV-2 was found up to 4800km.
