ワクチンが自閉症を発症させるってホント？ Is it true that vaccinations can cause autism?

皆さんは抗体刺激たんぱく質性のワクチンや多糖体ワクチンを２歳までに受けると自閉症の確立があがるということはありますか？この２種類のワクチンはインフルエンザのワクチンやおたふく風邪や麻疹などに使われるMMRワクチンなどもこの部類に入ります。

たしかに今接種しても意味があまりなワクチンも厚生労働省は任意接種を推奨しているものもあります。例えば、破傷風のワクチンも任意接種のワクチンの１つですが、破傷風が日本で最後に確認されたのは今から25年も前のことになります。このように「なぜ強く接種を勧められるのだろうか」と不思議に思うワクチンも数多くあります。しかし、たくさんの方が心配している自閉症の発症確率が上がるようなことはないとJournal of Pediatricsという論文誌に掲載された研究発表がありました。

同い年で同じような環境で育った256人の自閉症を患っている子供と752人の健康な子供のワクチン接種の経歴を比べたところ、ワクチン接種が自閉症を引き起こすといったエビデンスは発見されませんでした。小児科医の方のなかには自閉症などを引き起こす原因があるからとワクチンの接種を勧めない方もいるようですが、今のところ自閉症を引き起こすメカニズムや裏付けが取れている研究の報告はありません。

ワクチン接種についてまだ謎が多く、実際の医療現場であまりお母さまやお父さまにワクチンについての説明が不足しているのも確かだと思います。しかし、これらの理由でワクチン接種をしないというのはどうなのかな？と私は思います。もちろん、アレルギーやその他の疾患などの関係性でワクチンを接種できないという場合もあると思うので、よく検査をしてから接種することをお勧めします！

Have you heard of anyone saying antibody-stimulating Proteins and polysaccharides
in vaccines can cause autism when they are injected to little kids younger than 2yrs old? Those are often included in MMR vaccinations and flu vaccinations. 

It is true that in Japan, there are many vaccinations that are no longer thought to be needed but Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare is still strongly recommending to get one. For example, the case of tetanus has been last reported in 1995 in Japan, but it is still strongly recommended vaccination in Japan. I sometimes do wonder if they ever reconsider the vaccination requirements based on the number of cases that has been reported. However, getting autism by those vaccinations is a different story. The research published in Journal of Pediatrics has recently reported that vaccinations including antibody-stimulating proteins and polysaccharides do not cause autism, and the association was not seen. 

They tested 256 children with autism and 752 control group (healthy children) with same age and grew up in relatively the same way to compare the vaccination history. Researchers did not find any evidence supporting the claim. There are some pediatricians who recommend not to get certain vaccinations because of this reason, but since there is no strong evidence telling us that autism can be caused by vaccinations, I still do recommend the vaccinations that pediatricians recommend you. However, there are some cases that children have allergy against those vaccinations, or some other medical conditions that might not be good to get vaccinations. In those cases, I really do thing it is important to consult with GP!
