がん探知犬の正確性 Accuracy of cancer detecting dogs

みなさん、がん探知犬をご存知ですか？存在を知っている方は多いかもしれませんが、この子達がすごく正確だということはご存知でしたでしょうか？
ある研究によると99.7%の確率でがん探知犬が正しくがんにまつわる異常を指摘できるそうです。彼らの嗅覚で、通常の人の汗、尿、便、肌や息などの匂いをガン疾患がある人のものと比べ、人間に異常を教えてくれるのです。
しかし、日本ではまだトレーニングがあまり行われていないため、がん探知犬はわずか5頭しかいません。人間と犬との共存が推進されるこの時代に、このように頼りになるワンチャンが増えていけばいいですね。
Did you know that dogs can detect cancer? Maybe a lot of you already knew about there existence, but how many of you knew that they have a very high accuracy of detecting the cancer?
They use the difference in sweat, skin, breathe and feces etc. odours of the cancer patients and people without cancer. However, in Japan, there are only 5 active cancer detecting dogs, but hopefully the number will increase as there are a lot of people living with dogs as their family.
