ジェイコブ君は2014年に神経芽腫と診断され、来年のクリスマスが迎えられるか分からない男の子。でも、それだけが特別で、あとは普通のペンギンとクリスマスが大好きな男の子。
彼が最後にプレゼントとして欲しいもの、それは出来るだけたくさんのお手紙だ。ジェイコブ君のお母様がテレビで呼びかけたところ、アメリカ国内での反響が大きく、拡散された。それと同時にアメリカ国内の手紙がほとんどのものの、外国からの物も含めると今まで倍の量になったそう。SNSなどの拡散による成果だ。SNSを上手く活用することにより、子供達に夢を与えることができる良い例となったのがジェイコブ君とお母様のお話だと思う。
世界中の人々が一瞬でジェイコブ君を喜ばせることができたなら、私達全員が継続的に支援を続け、子供達の為にできることを考えれば、より多くの人々が病気を治し頑張ろうと思わせることができるだろう。それを考えると私達は、私達のできることをできるだけやる必要があると私は思う。
This is a story of Jacob, a 9-year old boy, living in Portland, Maine, got 60 thousand letters from different people in seven continents. He was diagnosed as neuroblastoma, and he isn't sure if he can celebrate 2018 Christmas. However, he's normal boy who likes penguin and Christmas.
He wants his last present to be as many letters as possible. When Jacob's mother announced that on TV, he received many and many and many letters. Soon, it was wide spread by the use of social networking systems. I think this story reflects the benefit of social networking system if it is used in a right way.
If all of us could instantly make a move and make one boy happy, what would happen if all of us continuously support these children? When I ask that to myself, I feel that we have to do something that only we could do!
