オリンピックメダルを売って小児がんの男の子を救った選手 Athlete Who Sold Olympic Medals To Help 1 Boy

今日紹介するのは、３歳の小児がんを患った少年の治療費の為に自ら五輪で獲得した銀メダルを売ったポーランド代表のピオートル・マラチョフスキ選手です。マラチョフスキ選手は眼球ガンという難病を患った３歳の男の子オレク・シマンスキくんの治療費を援助する為に銀メダルをオークションで売ったことで話題をよびました。この眼球ガン（網膜芽細胞腫）は、人種、国、地域関係なく１万６千人に１人が発生するという難病で２−３歳の子供に多くみられます。オレクくんの眼はポーランドでは適切な治療を受けることは難しく、ニューヨークの病院で治療をする必要があったため、約１２６０万円治療費を募っていました。しかし、集まった額は目標額の３分の１でした。そのため、マラチョフスキ選手の自分でオリンピックという最高の舞台で獲得した大切なものを手放してまで助けようという心意気に世界が感動しました。その結果、オレク君の治療費１００％が集まりました。
マラチョフスキ選手の思いがオレクくんに届きますように。そして治療がうまくいき、元気な姿を見せてもらいたいですね！
Today, I am introducing a Piotr Malachowski who is a Polish discuss thrower who got a silver medal at the Rio Olympic. Malachowski sold his silver medal at the auction, and donated the money to Olek Szymanski, 3 year old boy who has a eye cancer, to support his medical expense. Eye cancer is a very serious disease, which 1 in 160,000 gets it, and factors like race, country, and environment does not matter to getting this cancer. This disease is usually seen in the children age between 2-3 years old. Olek had to go to New York for the appropriate treatment, since Poland was not able to treat this serious disease. However, he needed about 12,600,000 yen for this medical treatment, so they first asked for the donation, but they only got a third of what they need. The action of Malachowski, selling a silver medal which should have been the precious and important thing for him, got everyone to be touched. As a result, 100% of all the expense needed were gathered!
I hope Olek will recieve the love from Malachowski. I am also hoping to see Olek coming back fully recovered!!
